CORE GROUP 4: EDUCATION AND CAPACITY BUILDING

This group is led by Madiha Sajid.  UPSIGN has identified multiple challenges faced by Pakistani diaspora with regard to higher education. We wish to enhance capacity building in education to provide quality education. This group also advocates for gender equality both in education and professional life.  .

UPSIGN'S FOCUS IN EDUCATION & CAPACITY BUILDING:

Part of UPSIGN's capacity building strategy consists of:

  • Soft skills training e.g. networking skills, negotiation skills, etc.

  • Career skills training e.g. essay writing, creating presentations, etc.

  • Promote a positive image of Pakistanis and the diaspora to enhance global identity.

  • Work with other wider initiatives nationally and internationally to maximise impact.

UPSIGN'S ADVOCACY IN GENDER EQUALITY:

One of the key objectives  is to speed up gender equality by providing equal opportunities for both men and women in progressing in their professional lives, this can be done by:

  • Mentoring programmes for Pakistani origin women and girls.

  • Training activities for Pakistani origin women in leadership as part of our capacity-building initiatives.
